The primary beneficiary of The Alex Fund is Asociatia OvidiuRo, a certified Romanian charity founded by Maria Gheorghiu & Leslie Hawke.
OvidiuRO works to ensure all children in Romania have access to quality early education, with a strong focus on early literacy. Through teacher training, literacy-focused programmes, and the distribution of illustrated books, the organisation helps children develop essential language skills and a love of reading from an early age.
By working closely with educators, families, and communities, particularly in vulnerable areas, OvidiuRO strengthens children’s educational foundations, decreasing early school dropouts and improving children’s long-term learning outcomes.
