Moving on in Moldova

In the summer of 2024, at the invitation of the Republic of Moldova’s Minister of Education, staff from OvidiuRo brought their expertise in developing early literacy to Moldova. Although full-day preschool is available to every child, classrooms have very little age-appropriate material. OvidiuRo has so far distributed 8000 Romanian-language children’s books to kindergartens and libraries and 3000 teachers and librarians have participated in online and/or in-person trainings that demonstrate methods for reading aloud and engaging children in books. Trainings and book distribution will continue throughout 2025, with the expectation that every community will be touched.
